IBM T22 laptop says battery charged, but when system turned on,flashes & it shuts off. Do I need new battery?

This happens even when AC adapter is plugged in? I don’t want to invest in new laptop, would prefer to buy a new battery, but if that is not a 100% sign of old battery. Money very tight right now.

Sadly if it happens when just the AC Adapter is plugged in as well, it isn’t a “battery issue”.

It does not mean you have to buy a whole new laptop yet either.

It could be that the power plug in the laptop needs to be replaced. Sadly it is a very common item that “fails” after 1 1/2 or 2 years.

It does not require you to replace the whole motherboard, but some people it does require that you take it to a technician to replace it.

See if you can find a local shop that will give a “free” evaluation on the problem and give you an estimate for repairs.
